RED RIGHT RETURNING
Sail through sound on RED RIGHT RETURNING, a series of mixtapes where music is the map and deep listening is the compass.
Tommy van Arsdale captains an hour of music and ideas, knotted together to serve a greater thematic purpose. Inspired by the old maritime adage, these mixtapes were originally created to serve as the soundtrack for journeys back to the dock from the open ocean.
Red Right Returning: Keep the red channel markers on your starboard side for safe passage to harbor.
As you approach the jetties of Masonboro Inlet, you pass a tall, humming, red and white channel marker on the starboard side. The National Data Buoy Center calls it Station 41110, but many know it for its low, steady breath that echos the spirit of the ocean. From the jetties to the harbor is about an hour. For each sail back, Tommy picked a theme and created a mixtape to guide the time recollection and reflection on the journey home.
RED RIGHT RETURNING is a dossier of those mixtapes.
